COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater B.P.U. Board of Directors approved a bid of over $290,100 from Sunbelt Solomon of Kansas on Wednesday night for 16 transformers that will be used for upcoming projects.
Electric Superintendent John Springhill explained the delivery of transformers continues to suffer a significant impact from the global supply chain shortage.
T and R Electric had the low bid of over $245,000 but Sunbelt Solomon had the shorter lead time of 44 to 48 weeks. T and R Electric’s lead time was 52 to 56 weeks.
Solomon was recommended for approval as they had the best lead times and the BPU have had previous experience with them. 11 of the transformers would be used for the Trail Tree Village expansion.
