UNDATED (WTVB) – With very cold temperatures here to stay for a while, frozen water lines are a possibility for Union City and Bronson residents.
As a precaution, Union City village officials are encouraging residents to run a pencil sized stream of water from a faucet.
This will keep the water moving and help fight freezing lines.
Officials say they will cap water and sewer bills to seasonal usage levels to ensure no customer is paying more for additional usage to keep the water lines from freezing.
Frozen lines often take place between the home and water main as the frost line extends to the service line leading to the home, and can be costly for the home owner to remedy.
While there have been no reports of frozen lines yet, some customers do begin to experience freezing when temperatures fall this low for an extended time.
If you have any questions, call the Village Office during business hours at 517-741-8591.
The City of Bronson has also issued a freeze warning to their residents.
Officials say that during periods of extremely cold weather it is possible for waterlines between the house and the watermain to freeze.
As a precaution, Bronson city officials are encouraging residents to run a pencil sized stream of water from a faucet. This keeps the water moving and help fight freezing lines.
