QUINCY TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – Voters in Quincy Township will be asked on November 7 to approve a millage request so that the Township can purchase and improve a township hall.
Voters will decide whether or not the township can establish an annual special assessment of no more than a half mill over about six-and-a-half years.
If approved, the millage would raise $500,000.
Township Treasurer Tim Brockway told the Quincy Village Council last month a town hall is needed because right now all the township board members work out of the basement of the library and from their homes.
Township officials would like to have their own township hall to work from and be able to hold their own elections.
Quincy Township voters who have wanted to vote in person have been casting their ballots at the Quincy Village Office.
The November 7 election will be held at the location of the intended Township hall at 295 North Ray Quincy Road which is currently an event center located at the corner of Sebring and Ray Quincy Roads.
