ANGOLA, IN (WTVB) – A drug bust early Wednesday morning at a residence west of Angola led to the discovery of a large amount of suspected methamphetamine, marijuana and cash.
The Steuben County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release that their Special Response Tactical Team along with an Emergency Response Tactical Team from the Auburn Police Department executed the search warrant at 5:00 a.m. in the 1100 block of South County Road 430 West in rural Pleasant Township.
The search warrant was in connection with a joint drug trafficking investigation conducted by the Sheriff’s Office and Auburn Police.
Police encountered several individuals when they entered the property. They were detained without incident.
Besides the meth, the marijuana and the cash, items of suspected drug paraphernalia were also found.
66-year-old Thomas Wesley Hovis Junior of Angola was taken into custody. The other detained occupants were released at the scene.
Hovis was booked into the Steuben County Jail on five preliminary charges including three counts of dealing Methamphetamine which is a Level Two felony in Indiana. He is also facing charges for dealing Marijuana and being in possession of paraphernalia.
The investigation is continuing and Sheriff Rodney Robinson says additional suspects and criminal charges may be sought.
