Larry Barron, 81, passed away peacefully at Drews Place in Coldwater September 23, 2023 following a brief illness.
There will be a graveside service for friends and family Saturday, October 7, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at the West Girard Cemetery, with Pastor Steven Smith officiating.
There will be a gathering after the service at the Moose Lodge. Larry wanted everyone to have a beer and something to eat on him! Arrangements are being cared for by Dutcher Funeral Home.
Larry was born February 21, 1942, in Hillsdale, MI to Donald and Pauline (Randall) Barron. He graduated from Hillsdale High School in 1960 where he was a member of the Hillsdale High School Class B State Championship Golf Team.
After high school, Larry had various business ventures and in 1974 Larry came to Coldwater when he purchased the Lamplighter Bar. In 1983, along with his wife Jan, he purchased Bill’s Market. He and Jan together ran the store until her death in 1988. Larry was a staple at Bill’s Market until his retirement.
He was a great guy, friend to all, a very generous person and an avid golfer who golfed with his friends and family for many years. He will be missed.
Larry is survived by his loving companion Karen Parks; his older siblings Barbara Auseon, Bill Barron and their spouses, and Mary Barron; his nieces and nephews Laura McCoy and her family and Brian Auseon; Crista Braxmaier Sara Price, John Barron, and their families; Jan’s Children Aaron, Kent, Flip Miller and their families and Laura Martinson and her family.
Larry’s charity of choice was Branch County Coalition Against Domestic Violence, 220 N. Michigan Ave., Coldwater, MI 49036 and asks that any memorials be directed to that organization.
