The Branch County Election Commission will hold a clarity hearing on Wednesday morning to go over the language in a recall petition filed by Michael Exelby against Kinderhook Township Clerk Cynthia Carpenter.
Exelby has raised several issues with Carpenter including how she has been reimbursed for mileage.
It’s Exelby’s second attempt to recall Carpenter from office. His first recall petition was rejected by the Election Commission because of vagueness.
If the latest petition is approved, Exelby would need to collect 125 valid signatures before a recall election can be scheduled.
Carpenter defeated Exelby by 12 votes, 138-126, in a Republican Primary held in August of 2016.
Wednesday mornings clarity hearing will be held at 8:30 a.m. in the Board of Commissioners Room at the Branch County Courthouse.
