COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Board of Commissioners formally approved a request on Tuesday from the Sheriff’s Department to replace the motor on a 2009 Marine Patrol boat which has been out of service for most of this season and last season.
The Sheriff’s Department said in their request that the current two stroke motor had parts that are getting harder to find.
Commissioners approved a quote of over $13,000 from Marsh Brothers for the new Mercury 150XL 4-stroke motor.
Two quotes were submitted to the Sheriff’s Department. To purchase the motor, funds had to be transferred from four accounts.
Money was also taken from the remaining funds from the Marble Lake Association and the Branch County Community Foundation.
