Martin Leo McLatcher, 91, of Coldwater, passed away Saturday, September 30, 2023 at ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Lockwood Community Church with Pastor Shayne Looper officiating. Interment will follow the service at Knauss Cemetery.
The family will receive guests for visitation Tuesday, October 3, 2023 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater and again Wednesday, October 4, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. at Lockwood Community Church.
He was born March 14, 1932 to John and Bernice (Inde) McLatcher in Coldwater, MI. On February 4, 1951 Martin married Virginia Milbourne in Coldwater sharing 68 years of marriage before she preceded him in death on September 18, 2019.
Martin was a dedicated man that was passionate about his work; working in construction, farming, and manufacturing, Martin was always sure to keep himself busy. He also served as a member of the Coldwater Eagles, the Antique Car Club, the United Commercial Travelers and attended Lockwood Community Church.
Martin’s passion was to be outside, especially if it was for work where his work ethic was second to none. He also knew how to take time to just enjoy the outdoors as well, whether it was camping and fishing or going out for a few games of bowling where he competed on several leagues.
Martin was devoted to everything he did, but nothing meant more to him than the love he had for his family. He will be dearly missed as a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend.
Martin leaves behind his children Beverly (Gerald) Motzer of Shelby Township, Linda Zinn, Gloria Grandy both of Coldwater, James (Royann) McLatcher of Angola, his adopted daughter Rachel Hobbs; his sisters Dorothy Heator of Litchfield, Mary Roach of Sherwood, Teresa Noble of Coldwater; his grandchildren Kelly Buell, Shawn Haller, Synda Gaglio, Lynda Gaglio, Angela Gaglio, Rainia Crabill, Aleysha Harper, Shannon Gregor, Caleb McLatcher, Amy McLatcher, Shelly Detcher, Abigail Youpel; his many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, and his loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife Virginia, he was preceded in death by his parents, his son Fred McLatcher, his siblings Joan Gale, Mildred Bradley, Josephine Copenhafer, Theodore McLatcher, Richard McLatcher, John McLatcher, and Edward McLatcher.
Memorial donations are suggested to Lockwood Community Church.
