BROOKLYN, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater’s Legend Szafranski, John Aerts and Myron Lafty will be competing as individuals on Friday at the MHSAA Division Two Cross Country Finals while Bronson’s boys team along with three Quincy boys will be running on Saturday in the MHSAA Division Three Cross Country Finals at Michigan International Speedway.

Szafranski won the girls Portage Regional cross country title last Saturday by almost 19 seconds in a time of 20:07.63. She is the third girl from Coldwater to win a cross country regional title joining Elka Machan last year and Sarah Moore in 2002.
Aerts and Lafty earned medals at the regional meet. Aerts was second in a time of 16:46.33. Lafty also punched his ticket for the Irish Hills with a 14th place finish in a time of 17:41.08.
Bronson had all five runners earn medals as they captured the Boys Division Three Regional Cross Country championship last Saturday at Portage West Middle School.

Bronson’s Luis Ortiz was seventh in a time of 17:39.49. Aden Hathaway was ninth (17:50.42), Ashton Wells was 10th (17:57.05), Reagan Mayer was 14th (18:10.59) and Brayden Ransbottom was 15th (18:17.94).
Quincy’s Rhett Reif, Erik Butchert and Jacob Reif will compete as individuals in the Division Three Boys State Finals.
They all earned medals last week at the Regional meet in Jackson. Rhett Reif finished fourth overall with a time of 16:43.1. Butchart with a time of 17:06.02 was ninth and Jacob Reif turned in a personal record time of 17:18.79 and finished 11th.
