SHERIDAN TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department has released details of a Monday night incident in which an 18-year-old male became combative with police.
The Sheriff’s Department says they were investigating a report of a missing 14-year-old girl when they found the girl and the suspect at a home in the 26000 block of C Drive North in Sheridan Township.
As deputies tried to place the suspect into custody, they say he struck a deputy and a detective in the facial area.
An attempt to use a taser was unsuccessful. The suspect was eventually arrested and taken to the Calhoun County Correctional Facility where he reportedly was combative with several Corrections deputies.
The man’s name is being withheld pending arraignment. Prosecutors have authorized charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, two counts of resisting and obstructing police and third degree criminal sexual conduct.
Deputies say the girl was returned safely to her parents.
