BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – Statistics from the Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency on Friday showed Branch County has gone over 1,000 COVID-19 cases.
Friday’s report showed 30 new cases had brought the total since the pandemic began last March up to 1.022. That includes 461 cases reported since September 29 and over 200 new cases over the past week.
Of the 66 COVID-19 related deaths in the C.H.A.’s jurisdiction, 13 have been reported in Branch County.
The C.H.A. also reports that as of Wednesday, those between the ages of 25 and 39 have gotten the most cases in Branch County. That age group has had 277 cases. There have been 159 cases for those between the ages of 40 and 49.
More men are testing positive for COVID-19 than women in Branch County, 541-421.
The Community Health Agency says they are looking for volunteers that they can call on to assist with the pop-up testing events, immunization clinics and potentially case investigation of COVID-19 positive residents.
If you know of volunteers that would be interested in helping, contact Jim Cook at cookj@bhsj.org.
Health Officer Rebecca Burns says due to the large volume of positive test results they are receiving, they are currently not able to begin the case investigation on every COVID-19 positive resident within 24 hours of receiving the positive result which is the metric they are aiming to meet.
