BROOKLYN, MI (WTVB) – Three members of the Coldwater High School Cross Country teams finished their seasons on Friday at the M.H.S.A.A. Division Two Finals which were hosted once again by the Michigan International Speedway.
In the boys race, Coldwater’s John Aerts finished 122nd out of 250 runners with a time of 17:39.03. His teammate Myron Lafty was 133rd with a time of 17:47.51. Both were making their first appearance at the state finals.
In the girls race, Coldwater’s Legend Szafranski finished 38th in the state out of a field of 252 runners with a time of 19:56.25. Szafranski came within eight places and nine seconds of earning a State medal and an All State berth.
She won the Portage regional title last Saturday, the third girl from Coldwater High School to win a regional cross country title.
Aerts, Lafty and Szafranski are all juniors at C.H.S..
