COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater Police have arrested a second Indiana man for an alleged computer sex crime involving a 14-year old girl.
31-year-old Christopher Schmidt of Connersville, Indiana was arraigned on Friday in Branch County District Court on charges of using a computer to commit a crime, possessing child abusive material and accosting a child for immoral purposes.
Bond has been set at $100,000 and a probable cause hearing was scheduled for December 12th.
Schmidt was also sentenced on Friday to 93 days in jail for violating his probation in a domestic violence case.
24-year-old Ryan Graber of Goshen, Indiana is the co-defendant in the case. He is facing five counts including three charges of third degree criminal sexual conduct in connection with incidents involving the alleged teenage victim. He is also charged with using a computer in the commission of a crime and child accosting for immoral purposes.
According to police, the suspects got acquainted with the youngster through an on-line dating app.
