UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – Union City School Superintendent Chris Katz reported to the district’s Board of Education on Monday night that the Alumni Field project continues to be on schedule.
He said workers poured cement for the bleachers on Monday and additional workers have been brought to help make up for days that were lost because of the weather.
Katz has been told the work on the project is still scheduled to end after the football season.
The renovation of Alumni Field started around the first of June. It’s hoped everything will be ready for the track season in the spring.
Temporary bleachers and restrooms will have to be used for the Union City home football games this fall.
Union City Community School District voters approved a sinking fund millage renewal proposal in August of 2021 which provided a portion of the funding for the replacement of the Alumni Field bleachers as well as for other projects in the district.
