COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater City Council formally approved a 12 year tax abatement on real estate and personal property for Schmitz Foam as the company plans to build a new storage facility across from their existing building on Treat Avenue.
City Assessor Samantha Albright told the Coldwater City Council on Monday night Schmitz is planning a total investment of over $6-point-4 million towards the expansion project.
She said the start of construction has been pushed back.
Schmitz Holdings President and CEO Erguen Ozecan says the new building will allow for better storage and help maximize their production capabilities.
He adds the investment was essential to their continued success as one of the leaders in the field of athletic shock pad manufacturing.
