COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Overcrowded conditions at the Branch County Jail led to the transfer of 19 females to the Lenawee County Jail over the holiday weekend.
Branch County Undersheriff Keith Eichler says eleven who had already been sentenced were initially taken to Lenawee County due to the female population being higher than capacity.
The jail population got up to 152 on Thanksgiving which included 27 females.
The transfers lowered the population to 141 on Sunday which included 126 men and 15 women.
