COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A new type of television service will soon be available to customers of the Coldwater Board of Public Utilities. CBPU has announced that a new high definition cable television will be offered by the utility after the first of the year.
Skitter, Incorporated, which provides cable TV service through independent telecommunications companies, will be available through the CBPU, with a target launch date of January 3, 2018.
Former CBPU Director Paul Beckhusen told the utility’s Board of Director this past week that they will be offering cable viewers a different technology than what they currently have. The content will be delivered in the form of data instead of an analog signal, and a box will be needed for TV sets.
Beckhusen said the old analog system prevented the addition of new content. The board gave the CBPU the go ahead for the purchase of equipment, as well as the deployment of a marketing plan.
According to a press release issued by the city, Skitter provides television services to subscribers in multiple states, through a network of cable systems primarily situated at independent telephone companies, mainly in rural areas.
Skitter offers national, local, and regional cable channels, as well as premium movie channels.Information regarding rate selection, equipment, increased bandwidth and installation will be announced over the next several weeks.
