COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A hearing for the entry of pleas has been scheduled for next Monday afternoon in Branch County Circuit Court in two cases that have been filed against a former Quincy school teacher who was charged earlier this year with six counts of criminal sexual conduct.
A three day jury trial was scheduled to start December 5, 2017 in the case of 44-year-old Jason Ferrell.
A final pre-trial conference was on the docket for 1:30 p.m. Monday but none of the parties involved in the case showed up in the courtroom. A court employee said at about 3:00 p.m. that the attorneys were still talking and that the next date for the Ferrell matter would be next Monday.
Ferrell is being held on a $300,000 bond. He had earlier entered not guilty pleas to two counts of first degree criminal sexual conduct and to four counts of 2nd Degree CSC.
Ferrell was charged in connection with alleged incidents between August and November of 2016 involving one of his former female students.
