COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Branch County Commissioner Tom Matthew has announced that he is seeking the Republican nomination for State Representative in the 35th district.
The district includes Branch and Hillsdale Counties along with parts of Lenawee County.
Current State Representative Andrew Fink recently announced he will run for the Michigan Supreme Court in 2024 and he will give up his State House seat after his current term expires.
Matthew is currently the Vice Chairman of the Branch County Board of Commissioners and he heads the committee on Public Safety and Sheriff. He is the liaison to Veterans Affairs, Airport Board, Department of Human Services, MSUE Advisory Council and 911 Alternate.
He is also member of several other area boards.
Matthew stated in his announcement, “that he is fully aware of the needs of the counties in which he will represent and the State of Michigan when elected. My desire to serve our citizens was paramount to the reason I am now seeking the office of State Representative. My goal is to help lead our State with healthy family units, excellent education for children and adults with reasonable tuition, keeping families safe, providing infrastructure and an environment for jobs, thus ensuring the population to stay in this beautiful Wolverine state.”
