COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Despite a steady rain throughout the day, over 1,200 families Saturday received boxes filled with food for the holiday season, thanks to the annual Feeding Branch County effort.
With traffic control provided by the City of Coldwater police and fire departments, several hundred volunteers packed and passed out boxes of food to the needy families at the Branch Area Food Pantry. In addition to the food pantry, local churches, schools, businesses and other groups collected the food and donated money to purchase turkeys for the giveaway.
In the past there have been food distributions for both Thanksgiving and Christmas, but this year it was combined into just one event.
