UNDATED (WTVB) – A soggy start to the firearms deer hunting season on Wednesday around Branch County. It rained for most of day causing a near standoff as either hunters stayed indoors or the deer herd hunkers down in an attempt to stay dry.
This is the time of year when business picks up at auto body shops with the deer on the move.
According to the log sheet from Branch County Central Dispatch, there were seven car-deer accidents on Wednesday including three in the first half hour after darkness fell.
They were reported in the 600 block of North Ray Quincy Road, on Squires Road near Genesee Road and on Lindley Road near North Matteson Lake Road.
