Eric Richard Brubaker, 58, of Burlington Township, passed away unexpectedly Monday, November 13, 2023 at Oaklawn Hospital in Marshall.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 17, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation, 1276 Tate Trail, Union City MI 49094. Pastor Rob Schwartz will officiate. Following the ceremony, Eric will be cremated and his remains will be interred at West Eckford Cemetery in Marshall at a later date.
No visitation hours will be held.
Eric was born on February 17, 1965, in Coldwater to James Richard and Peggy Ann (Machin) Brubaker. He graduated from Union City High School in 1983 and was a resident of the Union City area all his life. May 16, 1987, Eric married Traci Ann Boyd in Girard.
He was the owner and operator of a large truck repair shop, American Truck Service, in Tekonsha for 30 plus years. He was well known around the area for his superb mechanical skills.
Eric enjoyed farming, restoring tractors, and tractor pulling. Eric was so good at tractor pulling that he was sometimes accused of cheating! He knew just how to tweak his tractors to get top performance out of them.
His family describes him as being hardworking, honest, and supportive. Eric was proud to be a strong provider and father to his family.
Surviving are his wife, Traci Brubaker; his son, Dexter (Kim) Brubaker of Union City; his daughter, Gabriella (Patrick) McKerr of Battle Creek; father and step-mother, James (Joyce) Brubaker of Fulton; his brother, Michael (Kimberley) Brubaker of Battle Creek; his grandchildren, Juniper Brubaker, Octavia McKerr, and one on the way; several nieces and nephews; his brother-in-law, William Burns of Olivet; his step-father, Richard Ashdon of Burlington; and his French Bulldog, Maxwell.
Eric was preceded in death by his mother, Peggy Ashdon, and his sister, Bonnie Burns.
