COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The 109-year-old record high for Coldwater for November 10 was not only broken on Tuesday, it was smashed to pieces.
The temperature during the late morning hours hit 74 at the Branch County Memorial Airport which broke the old record high of 68 which was set in 1911.
It’s the second straight day a record high was broken in Coldwater. Monday’s high hit 76 degrees which surpassed the old record of high of 72 degrees that was set in 1975.
If you were around back then, you may recall the unseasonably warm weather was followed by a strong storm system that battered the Great Lakes and led to the sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald in Lake Superior.
Tuesday will be the last day of temperatures 20 to 25 degrees above normal. The forecast for Wednesday is calling for highs near 50.
