LANSING, MI (WHTC/WKZO) – Michigan’s travel industry hopes to “keep it fresh” during the winter months.
The Michigan Economic Development Corporation’s tourism arm kicked off its winter ad campaign last month with that slogan, emphasizing over 65 hundred miles of snowmobile trails and three thousand miles of cross-country skiing and snowshoeing trails, along with being second in the country for total number of ski areas and resorts.
Nick Nerbonne is a spokesman for the MEDC.
The $425,000 regional ad campaign includes a $50,000 pilot social media partnership with the Michigan Snowsports Industries Association.
Although Governor Whitmer unveiled a “Pure Opportunity” travel slogan last spring, and the Fiscal 2024 budget for tourism spending was slashed by more than half from the $40 million in 2023, the MEDC is still using the “Pure Michigan” branding in this campaign.
