BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – A spark from an outdoor wood burner which landed in a nearby wood pile is believed to have started a fire near Bronson on Sunday morning which destroyed a pole barn and two vehicles inside.
Bronson Fire Chief Scott Wilber says the Bronson Fire Department was notified of a garage fire at 832 Kosmerick Road at 4:20 a.m. by Branch County Central Dispatch.
The homeowners noticed the fire, which was already coming through the roof, after their doorbell camera woke them.
Fire crews arrived to find a 24 foot X 50 foot pole barn fully engulfed in flames. Wilber says fast action by fire crews kept a hip-roof barn 20 yards from the pole barn from catching fire.
Damages were estimated at $150,000. Fire crews on scene for two hours. Lifecare Ambulance also responded. There were no injuries. Firefighters used 7,000 gallons of water to extinguish the blaze.
