Arlene Kay (Copenhafer) Miller, 77, of Sherwood, passed away on Sunday, December 10, 2023, in the company of her daughter Lisa, her sister Gerri, and her grandson Tommy.
Arlene struggled with and eventually succumbed to complications from emphysema and COPD.
A funeral will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 14, 2023 at Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation, 1276 Tate Trail, Union City, MI 49094. Pastor Trent Hammond from Crossroads Bible Church will officiate. Interment will follow at Sherwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be held just prior to the funeral Thursday from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m., also at the Lighthouse.
Arlene was born to Westley M. and Louisa M. Copenhafer on February 1, 1946, and was raised with three sisters Eleanor, Geraldine, and Bonnie, in Vicksburg, MI, where she graduated from high school in 1964. She met and married Mitchell T. Miller on February 29, 1964, whom she was married to until his death in 2016. The couple raised three children together.
Arlene was a school bus driver for Union City Schools, retiring in 2002 after 30 years of service.
Aside from work and family, Arlene could be found in her workshop creating wood crafts for family and friends. She was a talented painter and sold some of her work professionally. During quiet moments, you could usually find Arlene reading.
Survivors include her daughters Arlana (Michael) Connin and Lisa (John) Oliva; her three grandchildren, E. Thomas Miller, Micki L. Graham, and Isabella C. Oliva; her great-grandson, Oliver Graham, and one great-grandchild on the way.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Arlene was preceded in death by her son Thomas M. and her sister Eleanor.
