Vincent Trocheck scored both goals as the New York Rangers came from behind for a 2-1 overtime win over the host Boston Bruins on Saturday night.
Trocheck slotted home Artemi Panarin’s pass from the low left circle at 2:03 of OT to lift New York to its second win in as many games against Boston this season, its second in as many nights and third in four games.
Trocheck also scored the Rangers’ only goal in regulation. His power-play tally with 9:10 left in regulation forced extra time.
Trent Frederic netted the lone goal for Boston, which was 2-0-1 over its previous three games.
Wild 2, Canucks 1 (SO)
Mats Zuccarello scored the only goal in a shootout to give Minnesota its third straight win, beating visiting Vancouver in Saint Paul, Minn.
Frederick Gaudreau scored in regulation for Minnesota, which won for the seventh time in nine games since John Hynes took over as coach on Nov. 27. Goaltender Filip Gustavsson made 35 saves, stopping all three Canucks in the shootout.
Teddy Blueger scored for Vancouver, which had its four-game winning streak snapped. Vancouver began a hectic road trip that will see it play four games in just six nights. Goaltender Casey DeSmith finished with 30 saves.
Devils 6, Blue Jackets 3
Jack Hughes collected a hat trick to highlight a game filled with career milestones for visiting New Jersey, which beat Columbus.
Hughes’ second goal was the 100th of his career while Nico Hischier registered his 300th career point by scoring early in the third. The win was the 850th regular-season victory for New Jersey head coach Lindy Ruff, snapping a tie with Ken Hitchcock for fourth most all-time.
Kirill Marchenko, Yegor Chinakhov and Alexandre Texier scored for the Blue Jackets, who have lost five of eight (3-4-1) this month. Goalie Daniil Tarasov recorded 24 saves.
Canadiens 5, Islanders 3
Josh Anderson scored twice in a four-goal second period as host Montreal surged ahead before holding on to beat New York.
Joel Armia started Montreal’s four-goal outburst in the final 12:15 of the second when the Canadiens had 21 shots on goal. Anderson scored Montreal’s next two goals and Cole Caufield netted the final goal 15 seconds after Anderson’s second goal.
Brock Nelson scored a short-handed goal and an even-strength tally in the first 3:43 of the third. Bo Horvat also scored and Noah Dobson collected three assists as New York saw an eight-game (6-0-2) points streak halted and fell to 9-2-3 in its past 14 games.
Flyers 1, Red Wings 0
Cam York scored the lone goal to lift host Philadelphia over Detroit.
The Flyers extended their points streak to eight, going 6-0-2 during that stretch.
Red Wings goaltender Alex Lyon stopped 14 shots before leaving the game at 6:50 of the second period with an apparent ankle injury. Ville Husso made all 18 saves the rest of the way.
Maple Leafs 7, Penguins 0
Max Domi had a goal and two assists, Martin Jones earned his first shutout of the season and Toronto defeated visiting Pittsburgh.
Jones was making his second start of the season and stopped 38 shots to earn his 29th career shutout.
Penguins goaltender Tristan Jarry allowed four goals on 14 shots before being replaced by Alex Nedeljkovic in the second period. Nedeljkovic made 18 saves.
Blues 4, Stars 3 (OT)
Colton Parayko scored the game-winning goal in overtime as St. Louis defeated visiting Dallas.
Jordan Kyrou had a goal and two assists for the Blues, who are now 2-0 under interim coach Drew Bannister.
Mason Marchment, Ty Dellandrea and Evgenii Dadonov scored for the Stars. Scott Wedgewood made 30 saves.
Jets 6, Avalanche 2
Gabriel Vilardi scored twice as Winnipeg defeated visiting Colorado.
Nikolaj Ehlers, Alex Iafallo and Vladislav Namestnikov each had a goal and an assist, while Josh Morrissey and Mark Scheifele had two assists apiece. Nino Niederreiter also scored for Winnipeg, while Neal Pionk and Mason Appleton added assists. Connor Hellebuyck made 30 saves.
Jonathan Drouin and Jack Johnson scored for Colorado. Nathan MacKinnon notched two assists, while Mikko Rantanen and Valeri Nichushkin had one assist each. Ivan Prosvetov stopped 19 shots.
Coyotes 2, Sabres 0
Karel Vejmelka made 28 saves to help Arizona top Buffalo in Tempe, Ariz.
Clayton Keller and Liam O’Brien scored for the Coyotes, who recorded their second straight shutout. Connor Ingram was in goal for a 1-0 win against the San Jose Sharks on Friday.
Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen made 20 saves for the Sabres, who have not won consecutive games since Oct. 29-Nov. 1.
Predators 3, Capitals 1
Juuse Saros remained unbeaten this month after making 21 saves for Nashville in a win against visiting Washington.
Saros came in 5-0-0 in December with a 1.57 goals-against average and .953 save percentage. Colton Sissons, Philip Tomasino and Yakov Trenin scored for the Predators, who have won four in a row and seven of eight.
T.J. Oshie scored a power-play goal and Charlie Lindgren made 20 saves for the Capitals, who have lost five of seven.
Panthers 5, Oilers 1
Sergei Bobrovsky made 38 saves, including one on a penalty shot, and also had an assist while Carter Verhaeghe had two goals and an assist to lead visiting Florida over Edmonton.
It was the 20th two-goal game of Verhaeghe’s career. Sam Bennett had a goal and two assists, Brandon Montour added a goal and an assist and Aleksander Barkov also scored for Florida, which snapped a two-game losing streak. Oliver Ekman-Larsson added two assists.
Zach Hyman scored for Edmonton. Connor McDavid extended his point streak to 12 games with an assist on Hyman’s goal, his career-high 11th straight game with an assist. Calvin Pickard finished with 34 saves.
Flames 4, Lightning 2
Calgary used a three-goal second period to beat visiting Tampa Bay and end its four-game skid.
A.J. Greer, MacKenzie Weegar, Yegor Sharangovich and Connor Zary scored for the Flames, while Jordan Oesterle collected two assists. Goaltender Dan Vladar made 31 saves.
Brayden Point and Steven Stamkos each added a goal for the Lightning, who have lost three of their last five games. Nikita Kucherov, who leads the league’s scoring race, collected two assists, and goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy stopped 22 shots.
Kings 3, Kraken 2 (OT)
Carl Grundstrom scored in the ninth round of a shootout as Los Angeles defeated host Seattle Kraken.
Trevor Moore and Anze Kopitar tallied in regulation for the Kings, who snapped a three-game winless streak (0-2-1) and improved to 12-1-1 on the road this season. Goaltender Cam Talbot made 17 saves through overtime before stopping 6 of 9 Seattle shootout attempts.
Adam Larsson and Oliver Bjorkstrand scored for the Kraken, who had a two-game winning streak come to an end. Joey Daccord stopped 36 of 38 shots.
