COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – More legal problems for a suspect who was apprehended March 31 by the Branch County Sheriff’s Department following a vehicle and foot pursuit in Kinderhook Township.
The Branch County Prosecutors Office has filed five new cases against 28-year-old Joshua Tyler Martin in connection with a significant number of breaking and entering incidents and property thefts.
He was remanded to the Branch County Jail Thursday following Branch County District Court hearings on charges that were filed last April.
Bond on the new charges has been set at $50,000 for each case. A probable cause hearing was scheduled for November 7, with a preliminary exam on the new cases set for November 14, 2017.
The new charges included Safe Breaking, which is a crime that has a maximum sentence of life in prison. Among the other charges filed by prosecutors were first degree home invasion, two counts of second degree home invasion, larceny of a firearm, felony firearm, delivery and manufacturing marijuana along with receiving and concealing stolen property less than $1,000.
Deputy Steve Foster arrested Martin following the pursuit.
Branch County Sheriff John Pollack said at the time of Martin’s arrest that thousands of dollars worth of property had been recovered and that the crimes may have covered three states.
According to Indiana online court records, Martin was free on bond at the time of his arrest after he was charged with breaking and entering in Steuben County.
