MATTESON TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – Michigan State Police at Marshall say a 28-year-old Branch County man is in custody in LaGrange County, Indiana following a shooting incident at a residence in the 900 block of West Colon Road at around midnight on Wednesday night.
Troopers say the resident at the property reported that a family member had come to the house unannounced and was upset that the victim had her boyfriend there. The victim left the house to tell the suspect to leave.
The suspect started to leave and then stopped in the road. The suspect then allegedly threatened to kill the victim and fired an unknown gun in the victim’s general direction as well as the house.
The victim’s adult boyfriend and two minor children were in the house at the time. No injuries were reported.
The suspect then fled but was arrested a short time later in Indiana. He was lodged in the LaGrange County Jail on unrelated charges.
State Police say the suspect’s identity will not be released until after his arraignment. They have a hold on the suspect for outstanding arrest warrants.
It was reported by Indiana investigators that the suspect had a firearm and suspected drugs in the vehicle at the time of his arrest. The matter is still under investigation.
