MARSHALL, MI (WTVB) – Both of the Coldwater squads finished fifth at the Interstate 8 Cross Country Championship Meet Saturday at Cornwell’s Turkeyville.
Coldwater’s Shuaib Aljabaly repeated as conference champion, but the Cardinal team did not. Instead, the Cards slipped to fifth place in the meet, and third place in the final standings. Harper Creek emerged as the 2017 league champs. Ayash Ahmed was 15th while Adam Bailey was 24th.
In the girl’s competition, Coldwater’s Kathy Potter took third place, and teammate Elka Machan finished 11th as they both earn All-Conference honors. Cece DeWitt was 28th. The Lady Cards again finished fifth in the meet and remained in fifth in the final standings.
The top teams on Saturday were Marshall in the boys meet and Jackson Lumen Christi in the girls meet.
The Quincy boys were fifth while the girls were seventh on Saturday at the Gobles Invitational on Saturday. Three boys were medalists. They were Nathan Nohr (3rd), Ian Trall (11th) and Josh Pepper (32nd). In the girls meet, Madelyn Allman (10th) and Makenzie Blatter (32nd) won medals. The Quincy squads will compete Saturday at the Regionals which will be held at Jackson’s Sharp Park.
