QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – A divided Quincy Village Council voted against medical marijuana Tuesday night.
On a 4-3 vote which followed nearly 90 minutes of discussion, a resolution was passed which stated that the Village Council makes a record of its decision to not adopt an ordinance to authorize within Quincy the location of any medical marihuana facilities as identified in the Medical Marihuana Facilities Licensing Act.
The agenda item drew a large crowd. Village Manager Eric Zuzga says about 30 persons attended the meeting.
Medical marijuana was earlier voted down by the Quincy Township Board.
Coldwater Township officials decided not to pursue it this summer following several meetings which included a stormy session that was attended by numerous anti-medical marijuana audience members in June.
In other business Tuesday, the Village Council approved an ordinance which would provide for the permitting of solar energy facilities in Quincy. No one has shown an interest yet but the Village wanted to get something on the books in case that should happen.
