ALBION, MI (WTVB) – Quincy High School’s girls cross country team won the Big 8 Conference for a third straight season Tuesday as the regular season wrapped up with the final conference jamboree of the season at Victory Park in Albion. The Quincy girls won all four jamborees.
Bronson and Union City were seventh and eighth respectively in Tuesday’s jamboree and in the final standings. Earning all Big 8 Conference honors were Harmony Harpster and Madelyn Allman of Quincy along with Xochitl Garcia of Bronson.
Garcia was the top finisher for Bronson as she was fourth in Tuesday’s race while Allman was fifth and Harpster was eighth. Meri Michael of Quincy was 11th while Makenzie Blatter was 16th, Avery Smith was 20th, Avery Rufenacht was 22nd and Abby Strock was 25th.
Marionna Bigelow was the top finisher for Union City as she was 31st.
Jonesville captured the boys Big 8 Conference title as they went undefeated during the season. Bronson was second, Quincy was fifth and Union City was seventh in Tuesday’s meet and in the final standings.
Earning all Big 8 Conference honors were Luis Ortiz and Colin Ransbottom of Bronson along with Nathan Nohr and Ian Trall of Quincy. Nohr was fourth in Tuesdays race while Trall was sixth and Erik Butchart was 15th.
Bronson had five runners in the top 20. Ransbottom finished seventh while Ortiz was 10th , Hunter Trine was 11th, Daniel Barajas was 18th and Mario Sanchez was 20th. Union City’s Bobby Hurley was 21st.
