QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – The Quincy Community Schools Board of Education approved the hiring of Anthony Hutchins as the Interim High School Assistant Principal Monday night.
Hutchins will take over for Mike Hoffner, whose last day is Tuesday. Hoffner is scheduled to undergo minor surgery that will prevent him from carrying out his duties any further.
Hoffner performed all the functions of the High School Principal since he was hired in July while David Spalding was on administrative leave.
Hutchins lives in Albion and has children who attend Concord schools.
Hutchins and incoming Interim Business Manager Bill Childs have agreed to help out the district for the rest of the school year or as long as need be. Childs will take over at the end of October when Phyllis Gillette leaves.
Meanwhile, Business Manager Cheryl Globke remains on unpaid administrative leave even though mishandling public funds felony cases against Globke and former Superintendent Craig Artist were dismissed two weeks ago by the Branch County Prosecutors Office.
In other business, the school approved Quincy High School having boys and girls bowling teams for 2017-2018. The Quincy Booster Club has donated $1,500 to start up the program and board member Rowdy Gibson has donated the shirts for the team members.
Wal-Mart also presented a check for over $3,000 to the district as part of their Safe Miles for Education Program.
