COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater City Police say a teenager who allegedly injured his girlfriend in a reported domestic assault remains in the Branch County jail today. 18-year old Jeromy Stempien was arrested where he lives on Henry Street in Coldwater.
According to Coldwater City Police, Stempien and the reported victim, a 20-year old woman, were arguing late Thursday morning last week in his home when the suspect pepper sprayed her in the face. The alleged assault occurred when the girlfriend was attempting to call 9-1-1 to report the incident. She eventually was able to notify police, who said the victim was treated at the scene by Life Care Ambulance medics.
Stempien was arraigned in District Court on misdemeanor charges of domestic violence and interference with electronic communication. He’s being held on a $10,000 cash or surety bond with his next court appearance set for October 24, 2017.
