LANSING, MI (WTVB) – Michigan Governor Rick Snyder will make the final decision on the sanctions that State Police Director Kristi Kibbie-Etue will face for reposting a Facebook message calling protesting NFL players “degenerates”.
Etue at one time was the commander of the Michigan State Police Post in Coldwater.
The Internal Affairs Division will make a recommendation that could range from a verbal reprimand to a 5 day suspension.
The Legislative Black Caucus and The Detroit NAACP still want her to resign. Governor Snyder has made it clear that won’t happen and Etue has refused to step down as the nearly two week controversy refuses to go away.
Normally, it’s the State Police Director who makes the final call when departmental sanctions are handed out. Obviously that would not work in this case, so the Governor gets to decide.
