COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – It’s the time of year when a lot of burning takes place, and Coldwater Township officials are reminding residents that there are some things that are not allowed to be burned.
You can not burn logs, stumps, trees and brush within 1,400 feet of the City of Coldwater under Department of Environmental Quality rules.
State law allows for the burning of leaves and grass clippings in municipalities less than 7,500, and Coldwater Township falls in that category.
The Coldwater Fire Department would like to be notified when you burn limbs, brush, stumps or evergreen needles.
Because of air quality regulations, you can never burn demolition debris, construction materials, automotive parts or household trash that contains chemicals or hazardous materials.
If you see someone violating burn regulations, call the Coldwater Fire Department business number at (517)278-4177.
