COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A new car wash on the east side of Coldwater is closer to becoming a reality after the Coldwater Planning Commission approved a request for a Special Land Use Permit on Monday night.
The request came from Andrew Hakim, on behalf of EPC OpCo, to consider the permit for the construction of a Car Wash Establishment within the 37-acre parcel, owned by Meijer at 620 East Chicago Road.
Coldwater City Planner Jake VanBoxel said there were no issues with the proposed car wash but current zoning codes covering such businesses may have to be adjusted.
Engineer Nate Torrey developed the site plan.
The proposed development would be roughly two acres and be located adjacent to Belle Tire.
As usual money outways all the issues this will cause being near an intersection that many times see’s backups past Walmart on the east bound lane. I have seen several accidents in that area over the last few years. People crossing from the west bound lane through backups on the eastbound lanes. Someone waves them through and they end up getting broadsided. Poor planning!
