COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A request by the owner of a hair salon for a Special Land Use Permit to operate her business on a 13 acre parcel land on Race Street owned by Warehouse Properties of Coldwater was tabled by the Coldwater Planning Commission on Monday night.
Allison Barth of Rustic Expressions Salon is seeking the permit.
City Planner Jake VanBoxel said they were trying to correct an error after Barth and her father contacted City contracted building inspector Kenny Fickle who had no concerns with the structural integrity of the building. VanBoxel said it was a unique situation.
VanBoxel added that Barth resigned from her former employer in order to start the business and that she had requested a temporary approval from the city in order to service her clients.
The operation would cease if the Planning Commission denies the request for the Special Use Permit. The temporary approval has been in place for about two weeks.
The Planning Commission discussed the matter for about 20 minutes on Monday before deciding to table the request. It is expected to come back before them next month.

Fickle approved. She should sue for lost wages/.
I get it Its OK to zone and build a new car wash to be built on hwy 12’s dope alley near one of the busiest intersections on 12. Which will create even more backups and more accidents. But not OK to issue a land permit for a salon on a 13 acre parcel of land.
