PORTAGE, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater’s Shuaib Aljabaly led 331 other cross-country runners to the finish line on Saturday at the prestigious Portage Invitational and won this race for the first time in his career. With this win, Aljabaly stays undefeated for the season. The Coldwater team finished 28th out of the large field of 49 teams.
Kathy Potter medaled for Coldwater girls cross country team, finishing in 37th place, her third medal winning effort in the past three weeks. Potter led the Coldwater girls to a 37th place finish among the 50 entered teams.
Bronson’s boys finished 9th out of 23 teams while Quincy was 14th and Union City was 23rd at the Hudson Booster Invitational on Saturday. Quincy’s Nathan Nohr finished 10th while Ian Trall was 49th. Colin Ransbottom was the top finisher for Bronson as he was 22nd while his teammates Daniel Barajas finished 41st and Hunter Trine was 47th. Bobby Hurley was 71st for Union City.
In the girl’s race, Quincy and Union City did not have enough runners for team scores while Bronson was 20th. Bronson’s Xochitl Garcia was 23rd. Quincy’s Madelyn Allman was 44th. Marionna Bigelow of Union City was 111th.
