BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – The Bronson Fire Department was dispatched to a pole barn fire near the intersection of Holmes and Weaver Road shortly after 2:00 a.m. Sunday. The barn was fully involved with flames when discovered by a Consumers Energy crew who stopped and woke the owner.
The 85’X85’ structure was a total loss as were three semi-trucks that were inside the building. Colon and Burr Oak Fire Departments provided two water tankers each.
Over 50,000 gallons of water was used to extinguish the flames. Firefighters were on scene for over 5 hours. The cause of the fire was electrical in nature. No one was injured at the scene.
The Bronson Fire Department responded to several calls shortly before the pole barn fire for power lines down due to a storm. Several large trees were uprooted in the southeast corner of the City of Bronson taking down power lines as they fell.
Three different trees fell on vehicles. One vehicle’s roof was completely crushed down to the door level when a tree fell directly on it.
Despite live power lines lying on the top of one house, no fires within the city broke out due to the storm.
