COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater City Council will discuss the Rotary Park project further during a work session on Monday night starting at 5:30 p.m..
Not everybody is happy with the way the project is progressing.
City of Coldwater Recreation Board member John Parshall criticized the proposed design of the project during a City Council meeting last October.
Parshall said the boat ramp on the east side of the Coldwater River channel should not be moved because of flooding issues on the west side. He also felt Oak Grove Cemetery should be left alone and that the proposed boat slips on the west side of the river were not a good idea.
The Coldwater City Council approved a contract agreement with the city’s landscape architect PM Blough last May for the Rotary Park Project. The contract between the city and Blough was not to exceed $35,000.
The project is being funded in part by the state’s distribution of sales taxes collected on the sale of cannabis which was included in the city’s 2023-2024 Budget.
