COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The City of Coldwater’s Fire Department has announced the launch of a new Fire Extinguisher Training Program that they say was made possible by donations from local organizations and businesses.
The City has acquired a brand-new LION Intelligent Training System valued at just under $15,000.
Fire officials say this system utilizes remote-controlled, stainless-steel burners to create safe, controlled, harmless fires, allowing participants to learn how to properly operate fire extinguishers in a realistic setting.
Donations have been provided by the Coldwater Board of Public Utilities, the Walmart Distribution Center, the Walmart Store, Suburban Propane, Asama Coldwater Manufacturing and Sekisui Voltek,
The program is being facilitated by Coldwater Fire Marshall Steve Trall and Materials/Safety Specialist Denny Steele.
It is aimed to educate businesses, high school students, and citizens of Branch County on proper fire extinguisher usage.
There will also be specialized sessions for participants in the City’s Citizens Academy.
