QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – Despite a late rally, the Quincy High School boys basketball team fell short on Senior Night Thursday, losing to Springport 46-41.
Before the game the Orioles honored the two seniors on their squad, Grant Carter and Nash Fitton.
The first quarter was a back and forth battle, with the home team edging out the visitors by a slim margin, 10-9. The second quarter, Quincy struggled to get anything going offensively, as they were stagnant and not putting many points on the board. Springport took advantage, outscoring the Orioles 18-6, to take a commanding 27-16 lead into the locker room.
Quincy regrouped at halftime, coming out in the third quarter with a different attitude, outscoring the Spartans 12-6, to make the score 33-28 in favor of Springport heading into the fourth quarter. The Spartans started to pull away in the fourth quarter, but Quincy had other ideas. The Orioles battled back and made it a two possession game that came down to the final minute to determine the outcome. Quincy Stats (unofficial):
