COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Branch County Commissioners formally took care of a couple of housekeeping matters during a very routine meeting on Thursday.
They approved the renewal of an intergovernmental contract with Southwest Michigan Behavioral Health.
The current contract expires at the end of the year. The new three year contract will run until the end of 2020.
Branch County is among eight community mental health authorities which are represented by Southwest Michigan Behavioral Health.
Commissioners also approved amended by laws for the Michigan Works! Southwest Workforce Development Board as board member terms are going to be changed so that they can be staggered.
The Board represents Branch, Calhoun, Kalamazoo and St. Joseph Counties.
In other business, the Commissioners formally approved a request to fill an open 911 dispatcher position.
They also formally adopted a resolution for the rehabilitation of a runway at the Branch County Memorial Airport which will be funded mostly through state and federal dollars. The county match would be for 2 1/2 percent of the projects costs. The county money will come from a $15,000 allocation to the airport that was recently approved by the Commissioners.
