QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – The Quincy School Board approved the hiring of Bill Childs as the Interim Business Manager on Wednesday night during a special board meeting.
Childs will take over at the end of October when Phyllis Gillette leaves.
Interim Superintendent Martin Chard says Childs has agreed to serve the Quincy school district through the end of the school year or whenever legal matters are resolved.
Gillette worked as a business manager in the Union City school district when Chard was the Superintendent there. Gillette was named the Interim Business Manager on August 2nd by the Quincy School Board after Business Manager Cheryl Globke was placed on unpaid administrative leave.
Globke was one of three administrators charged for their alleged roles in the handling of sexual misconduct accusations that were made against former teacher Jason Ferrell.
Chard says Childs has previous experience as a business manager in the Litchfield and Parma Western school districts.
Another interim position will have to be filled soon by the Quincy School Board as Interim High School Dean of Students Mike Hoffner will be leaving due to surgery. Chard says he will present about a half dozen candidates to be Hoffner’s replacement during the next board meeting on October 16th.
In other business, the board approved the expulsion of a male high school student under the age of 17 due to what Chard called a long history of disobedience and aggressive behavior to others. The board action came after a student discipline hearing was held behind closed doors.
