QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – The Quincy Fire Association is scheduled to hold a special meeting on Thursday night to finalize the purchase of a new fire truck.
The new truck would replace one which was damaged in November of 2022 when a fire destroyed a home on Briggs Road.
MML Insurance decided to total the fire truck and send the Quincy Fire Association a check for the insurance once they get an invoice for the purchase of the new truck.
The truck was insured for $703,600. The new truck costs over $1-point-2 million but an upfront payment lowered the price to over $1,115,000.
That meant the three Quincy Fire Association members would pay a total of $447,350.
The Village of Quincy would pay over $111,000 while Algansee Township’s share is over $147,000 and Quincy Township would pay over $187,000.
Quincy Township and the Village of Quincy are using Fire Millage funds to cover their portion. Since Algansee Township does not have a millage since voters turned down a request several years ago, their portion will be paid out of pocket.
The Quincy Village Council along with the Algansee and Quincy Township boards have all given their approval for funding the purchase of the new fire truck.
