BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB) – In boys high school soccer, Coldwater improved their record to 13-2 on the season with a 4-1 non-conference win at Battle Creek Lakeview Monday.
The Cardinals Nasser Nagi scored 30 seconds into the game, assisted by Tyler Kooi. The second goal of the first half was scored unassisted by Ahmed Mohsen with 22 minutes to play.
Second half goals came from Saleh Mohammed, assisted by Anas Asker, and by Jonathan Brownell, assisted by Harwan Alaatre. The Cardinals six game shutout streak came to an end with 17 minutes to play, as Lakeview scored their only goal of the night. It was the first goal Coldwater has conceded in the month of September.
Balal Nasser made six saves in goal, as Coldwater outshot Lakeview 13-7.
The Cardinals, ranked 7th this week in the Michigan High School Soccer Coaches Association Division 2 poll, will host Jackson Lumen Christi for a varsity only game at 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, then play at Harper Creek Thursday.
The JV match ended in a 2-2 tie. Angel Rodriguez scored both of the Coldwater goals, with one assist from Koby Stewart.
