QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – Quincy Community Schools are returning to its normal water supply and will discontinue the supply of bottled water.
Superintendent Marc Kramer says in a letter posted on the district’s web site that the results of recent water tests conducted at their schools show that their water supply showed no issues and is safe for consumption.
He says the school district along with the Village of Quincy utilized a third party called Trace Analytical Laboratories to conduct water testing at the middle and high school.
The bulk of the water testing report was received on February 29.
The last strand of the testing results, which took longer to test, was received by the district last Friday and posted to the district website.
Kramer says Trace Analytical Laboratories testing indicated there were no issues with the water supply.
For an added measure, Kramer stated the village and the school district forwarded the results of the water tests to the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy. He says EGLE did not find anything of concern and indicated the results all looked good.
While the district is returning to its normal water supply, Kramer says water fountains with bottle fillers will all be available for use.
In addition to the water testing, Michigan Air and Mold checked on indoor air quality. According to Kramer, testing results released to the district showed no issues and that the middle school and high school meet all EPA and Air Quality Standards.
The air and water tests were conducted after some families raised environmental concerns when students experienced seizures, tremors, and other neurological symptoms.
