COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – In high school football, the Coldwater Cardinals will attempt to bounce from last week’s gut wrenching loss Friday evening as they travel to Jackson Northwest. The Cardinals were just 20 seconds away from a 4-0 record last Friday when Parma Western ran in a blocked punt for the winning touchdown in a stunning 28-21 victory over Coldwater.
The Cardinals are now 3-1 overall and 2-1 in the Interstate 8 Conference. Northwest has lost all three of their conference games and are 1-3 overall. Coldwater has beaten Northwest six out of the seven times they have played them including the last three years.
Game time is 7:00 p.m. Coverage on AM 1590 and FM 95.5 WTVB starts at 6:30 p.m.
Seventh ranked Union City travels to Jonesville tonight in hopes of staying unbeaten. The Chargers are 4-0 overall and are tied with Reading for first place in the Big 8 at 3-0. Union City has outscore the opposition 171-33 so far this season.
Quincy will attempt to bounce back from last weeks 39-0 loss to Union City as they will play at arch rival Reading. It’s the 64th meeting between the two schools with the Rangers holding a 33-29-1 edge.
Both Bronson and Concord will be looking for that elusive first victory of the season Friday night at Concord. Both teams are 0-4 overall and 0-3 in the Big 8.
In 8 man football…Tekonsha plays at Portland St. Patrick. The Indians are 2-2 so far this season.
