MANITOU BEACH, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater High School varsity girls golf team won the Onstead Invitational Monday at the Devil’s Lake Golf Course. They defeated eight other teams with a team score of 348 which was their best showing of the year.
Four out of five of the Lady Cards made the top ten All Tournament team with Claire Sheppard being runner up overall with a score of 82 followed by Hunter Jenkot who took third place overall with a score of 86. Molly Smith and Kelly Warner finished tied for fifth place overall with rounds of 90 each. Jayla Goodwin rounded out Coldwater’s scoring with a round of 99.
Coldwater’s JV team competed in a unique event hosted by Battle Creek Lakeview at the Squirrel Hollow golf course Monday, with two players playing stroke play, two playing best ball and two being involved in a scramble.
Coldwater came in third place overall with the stroke play scores for Micki Slack being a 94 and Elloree Madden carded an 82 on the executive course. The best ball total for Alexis Musselman and Diona Kashian was an 87 and the scramble team of Mackenzie Koch and Morgan Beckhusen shot a round of 76 for the day.
Coldwater’s varsity golf team will travel Wednesday to Sturgis to participate in a match play event with Sturgis, Three Rivers, and Harper Creek. Coldwater will host a JV event Wednesday at the Coldwater Golf Course.
